The European Space Agency’s Gaia mission has been surveying the full sky since July 2014. The first data release (DR1) was in September 2016 and the second data release (DR2) was in April 2018. Gaia is revolutionizing our understanding of the formation history of the Milky Way and is having a significant impact on other areas of astronomy ranging from solar system objects to quasars. Science results from the Gaia are paving the way for large spectroscopic surveys. This is the right time to discuss some of the interesting results obtained from the Gaia DR1/DR2 and prepare ourselves for the scientific exploitation of the future releases, of which the next is planned in December 2020. In this context, Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is organising an online meeting titled “Gaia Symposium: DR2 and Beyond” from 2nd - 6th November 2020.
