Applications are invited for the position of postdoctoral research associate in gravitational wave physics and astronomy at Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), India. The position is for two years extendable for another year upon satisfactory performance. The required qualification is a PhD in Physics or Astronomy. Those who have submitted their PhD thesis can also apply. Screening of the applications will start in November 2019 and will continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. K. G. Arun on one or more of the following topics: source modelling of compact binaries, tests of general relativity and nature of compact objects using gravitational waves, multi-messenger astrophysics and formation channels of compact binaries.

CMI is an active member of the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, LIGO-India Science Collaboration, LISA Consortium, GWIC-3G Science Team and SKA-India Science team. Besides Prof. Arun, the group consists of a postdoctoral fellow and three Ph D students. The group at CMI closely collaborates with Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos at Pennsylvania State University and the International Center for Theoretical Science, Bangalore.
