Dear Colleague,
The 45th meeting of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI) is scheduled to be held between 12 - 16 Feb 2027, and will be hosted jointly by Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi.
As has been the case for the last several ASI meetings, it is proposed to hold a few one-day workshops on 12th February 2027, the day before the start of the main ASI meeting. Proposals are invited for conducting workshops in the form of a 1-2 page abstract about the theme, the rationale for the workshop and the expected number of participants. We encourage the organizers to plan a component of hands-on session / interactive session having a good balance with presentations. The organisers and/or participants need to make their own arrangements of laptops, etc.
The organizers should note that:
1. All workshop participants, organizers and resource persons have to register for ASI-2027 through the meeting website before the workshop registration deadline.
2. There will be no online/hybrid component for any session including workshops in the ASI meeting.
3. All the expenditure related to the workshops will be borne by the workshop organizers. The expenditure will be based on the number of participants as per the following slabs. Typically, more participants apply and the organizers select the requisite number of participants based on the slab opted.
- The term 'participants' in this context includes Organisers and Resource Persons in addition to the Attendees.
- For less than or equal to 50 participants, the amount payable is Rs. 50,000.
- Between 51 to 125 participants, the amount payable is Rs. 1 Lakh.
- Between 126 and 200 participants the amount payable is Rs. 1.5 Lakh.
- The maximum number of participants that can be accommodated is 200.
4. Organizers need to note that prior payment for the workshop expenditure will need to be made at least 15 days in advance of the meeting.
Proposals should be sent to secretary@astron-soc.in (CC: astron.soc.india@gmail.com) and should reach us by the end of the day on 3rd August 2026.
Best regards,
Sarita Vig
